6 Ways To Improve Your Mental Health This Mental Health Awareness

This May, we want to take the opportunity to raise awareness about mental health. Mental health has a huge effect on our day-to-day wellbeing and it’s so important to do what we can to support our own mental health. At VINA, we’re huge nerds about the vitally important brain-gut connection which science has shown links digestion with mood and health. To fight the stigma against mental health issues and raise awareness, we wanted to dive into some productive ways to celebrate the month.

What is mental health?

Broadly stated, mental health is the overall state of someone’s emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. It plays a role in our thinking, moods, feelings and behaviors, as well as how we cope with stress and challenges! There are so many factors at play when it comes to our mental health. Our bodies are so interconnected, with different systems working in tandem to keep us happy and healthy, so it's our job to provide fuel where we can.

VINA is proud to be a functional beverage because our drinks include trace minerals which our bodies use to optimize the thousands of body functions carried out in a single day. Trace minerals support these physiological processes, bolster our immune system, promote healthy skin/hair/nails, help maintain a healthier heart AND boost brain function! A healthier gut and a healthier brain really is a no-brainer.

What are other ways we can improve our mental health?

Self-care is so important! Beyond face masks and gua sha, we’re firm believers in boosting mental health by taking physical, mental, and emotional steps.
Here are some of our favorite self-care methods:

  • Journaling, writing down things you’re grateful for everyday
  • Meditating or breathwork. Have you tried box breathing?
  • Hot Girl Walks
  • Volunteer at a local animal shelter to walk and play with deserving animals
  • Better sleep hygiene - yes, it matters!
  • Disconnecting to reconnect with people irl - plan picnics or hikes with friends

There are tons of ways to maintain a healthy work-life balance, reduce stress, and prevent burnout happening. Even little steps can add up to a huge benefit so take things slow and try to aim for consistency!

We hope these tips will help you support your mental health this month and beyond!
